Animal Collages

Special Education students in grades 6-8 viewed the works of Henri Rousseau, and discussed how he illustrated animals within his beautifully painted backgrounds. Students selected an animal stencil and traced it, and then learned how to create a horizon line behind their animal so that they could create a background, just like Henri Rousseau. Then, students collaged patterned paper together to create fun, colorful animal collages within their imagined backgrounds.
