In this process-based project, students in grades 9-12 learned how to be "visual development artists", where they created their concepts, including the world, stories, and characters. Students started the project by doing several days of gesture drawing through studying live figure models. Later on, students delved into research by gathering references and inspiration for their projects, and began writing and describing their stories and characters. The project ended with students developing one final character design. The "final project" included the entire process, including gesture sketching, research, writing, concept sketching, and final designs. Students had an open choice of media for the project.
